How The Bar Incident actually plays out, stage by stage. Your wording will differ — the suspect is generated live — but the shape of the run is the same every time.

The briefing
The file names both the crime and the man: the murder of Sarah Jenkins, and Marcus, who was found near the scene and says he left before it happened. Notice what that means — you are not looking for a culprit, you are looking for the seam in a story that has already been told.

His opening account
Ask him about the evening and he gives you the whole thing unprompted: he was at Sarah's Bar, left early, around half nine, went straight home, alone, and never saw her. That is four separate claims volunteered in one answer, and every one of them is now his to defend.

The first deflection
Press the timing and he reaches for a witness immediately — the bartender can vouch for when he left. It sounds like an alibi. It is actually him committing harder to a time he cannot support.

Where the story bends
Put the camera against him. He does not deny the footage; he reframes himself. He must have misremembered, he was tired from a twelve-hour shift, he is a construction worker not a clock. That is the first revision, and revisions are what the stress bar responds to.

The hammer trap
Somewhere here he will bring up the hammer himself and explain it away — half his crew owns the same one. It is tempting, because the hammer is the most incriminating object in the file. It is also the one subject where he has a complete answer ready. Let it sit.

He stops arguing
Keep quoting his own times back and the tone changes. He stops explaining and starts accusing you of framing him, then slips into bargaining — it was an accident, he did not mean to. At that point he has conceded the act without saying the words.

The confession
The admission arrives in two beats: the act, then the apology. He hit her with the hammer during an argument, and then, collapsing, he says he did it and he is sorry.

Case 1 is cleared by 775,184 players and is the gentlest interrogation in the game. If Marcus is holding out, it is almost always because questions went to the hammer instead of the clock — the four angles that work is the shorter answer.
